On the Road to Bolivar

watercolor$500
Every year I travel to Bolivar for a contest. I would pass this quaint store and one time just had to capture the store before it was lost in the bustle of progress.
I found out that the landowner on the hill behind the store built it for his sharecroppers and family. A 90 year old family member still came down the hill everyday to open the store and visit with friends. The Lux Family......

Storm Passing

Traveling down Highway 72 towards Alabama the pastoral views are many. Driving through several hours of rain we reached a section where the sun was coming through and the storm had passed.
Wonderful feeling.
South Bluffs
Along the Mississippi River edge is this beautiful bluff over looking the river. Condo's and private homes have been built along the upper most edge. Tom Lee park is just below this scene. Tug boats, Paddle Wheelers, and barges pass along this busy waterway.
This painting shows the hundred year old Magnolias that once grew on this bluff. They were recently removed to make way for a RiverBluff Walkway. There was a certain amount of sadness felt for the loss of the trees thus it was painted in more somber colors.
Cool Waters
22x28 framed
Acrylic on canvas$800
Spring time travel is so exciting and refreshing. The trees are blooming and the streams are over flowing. As in this painting the spring waters are rushing over the rocks and the river beds, inviting but Oh! so cold. Refreshing in a surprising way. Brisk cool water to splash on your face and really wake you up....... warm camp fire and a good pot of coffee. Soothing sound of the rushing water.
