Sometimes I just like to break loose and do something different. I will make something totally whimiscal..... in either clay, polymer clays, build a table, turn a lathe..... just do it......
.These are some of the things I just do for fun. I usually donate these items to Non-Profit Organizations for their fund raisers.
Freedom: Lest We Forget
This chair was painted for October 1st for the Orpheum Theater Art Auction on November 3rd 2001...
I have painted a chair for this auction the last 4 years and this time I was so moved by our national tradegy that I could not let it pass.
As I moved on each day I became aware of this fact, those who live in New York have a reminder everyday of what 9/11/01 means. They can not move without the constant reminder of the towers missing from their skyline. Or the families that were forever changed.
I thought about how I had gone about my daily life. I had turned off the TV to keep from having to face the tradegy every minute. That way I was only occasionlly reminded of that day---by the flags and the ribbons, the flowers out on the street--- When I realized how I was going on trying to move on without thinking or acknowledging, I knew I had to paint something that would keep it permanent --a memorial in my own way,. a way not to let those thousands of people ever be forgotten.
